The ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star and his sister Sharon claim in a petition that their father Eduardo “is unable to resist undue influence and fraud and has been taken advantage of by his girlfriend”
Mauricio Umansky has filed for a conservatorship over his 81-year-old father, Eduardo Umansky.
The real estate mogul is hoping to serve as the conservator, along with his sister Sharon Umansky Benton, over Eduardo’s person and estate after an Aug. 14 filing stating that he is unable to care for himself.
In a petition for appointment of probate conservator obtained by PEOPLE, Mauricio and Sharon claimed their father’s girlfriend was using his inability to “resist undue influence and fraud” for her own benefit. In Touch Weekly was first to report on the petition.
“Over the course of the past few months, PC’s [proposed conservatee] girlfriend has become more controlling, limiting and regulating who the PC can visit with,” the filing claimed. “She has begun to isolate him and is trying to get married even though they have been together for twenty years and never decided that they wanted to marry.”
The petition recounted an incident where Mauricio and his sister took their father to lunch without letting his girlfriend know, allegedly leading her to become “enraged” and later “verbally and emotionally abusing” their father.
“Petitioner is informed and believes and thereon alleges that PC is unable to resist undue influence and fraud and has been taken advantage of by his girlfriend,” the complaint continues. “Over the course of the past eighteen months, PC [Eduardo] and the Petitioner [Mauricio] have discovered that [the girlfriend] has taken, secreted and appropriated more than $260,000 from PC through undue influence, whether physical or emotional, and/or fraud.”
“During this time, he has written more than $260,000 worth of checks to his girlfriend for no reason other than she wanted it,” the documents claimed.
It went on to allege that another $100,000 in expenses are unexplained. “PC is unable to stop this abuse and behavior and is asking for assistance in reigning in this spending,” the petition concluded.
