Out of love for her cat, a woman rolled up her sleeves and entered a sewer. She even had to swim through sewage to reach him.
The story reported by Westchester News 12 is that of a truly extraordinary rescue. A missing cat was found trapped by water inside a sewer, located under a highway. To be sure that the feline did not get scared and put himself in danger, his owner did not hesitate to jump into the dirty water to meet him.
Petey was equipped with a geolocation system
Jessica Li , Petey ‘s mistress , lets him roam as he pleases. But the feline is still equipped with an AirTag, a geolocation system that allows it to be monitored.
Although he likes to go for walks, he never wants to spend the night away from his mom. Every evening he returns and sleeps next to her.
So when the young woman went to bed and her cat was still not there, she got worried and decided to go looking for him. Using the geolocation system, she arrived in the middle of a highway named Sunrise Highway (New York, United States) . The GPS indicated that the animal was there. Obviously, this information was very worrying. If Petey was on the highway, he was in serious danger, if something hadn’t already happened to him…
A descent into the sewers
Jessica didn’t know how to get her hands on her feline again. So she called in a professional animal tracker, Kelly Brach .
After studying the situation with her search dog, the professional declared that Petey was definitely not on the highway, but under it, in the sewer system.
The group therefore advanced above the sewers, until Jessica ‘s phone informed them that she was exactly at the location of the Air Tag .
Jessica ‘s brother-in-law entered the sewer first, and he spotted the animal. Jessica let him out and went in in his place, to make sure the cat didn’t get scared.
Petey was in an area of the sewer completely surrounded by sewage. He found himself trapped and no longer dared to move. The owner jumped into the water to save her feline. She brought him back to the surface, safe and sound. After an examination at the veterinarian, he returned to his home.
