The Dallas Cowboys may have a home field disadvantage according to star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb – but team owner Jerry Jones strongly disagrees.

On Sunday, the Cowboys suffered a disheartening 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on their home turf. The final score may have been a little bit closer, however, had a notorious design flaw of AT&T Stadium not come into play.

During the blowout contest, Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush evaded the pocket and threw a jumping pass toward the end zone in the direction of Lamb. Despite being wide open, the wideout never seemed to locate the ball, which harmlessly hit the turf for an incompletion.

Moments after what shouldve been an easy three-yard touchdown reception, Lamb waved his hand over his visor, insinuating that he couldnt see. The broadcast promptly panned to the players view from the end zone, which was nearly completely blinded by sun rays coming in from the windows of the stadium.

Addressing the miscue during a postgame press conference, Lamb conceded: “I couldn’t see the ball. Couldn’t see the ball at all. The sun.” When asked if hed be in favor of the Cowboys top brass implementing curtains to provide shade during late afternoon games, the 25-year-old replied, 1,000 percent.

The comments clearly didnt sit well with Jones, who clapped back at his players complaints while speaking with reporters. Well, lets tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me? he asked.

Everybody has got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues. Im saying, the world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance. Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Wheres the moon?

By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin or not, he added. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium.

This is hardly the first time that Jones has shut down the implementation of blackout curtains, which are used for other events at AT&T Stadium. Discussing common criticisms posed against the over $1 billion venue, he said in a 2022 interview on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]: I wish to hell all I had to worry about was a ball hitting the screen or a little sun getting in there.

Conditions and elements have been a part of football since it was spelled the first time. No. Thats about 10,000 on my list of things to worry about. And, no, were not going to do anything with it.

To Jones’ credit, the Cowboys do have far greater issues to worry about after falling to 3-6 on the season – good for third place in the NFC East. To make matters worse, starting quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on his torn hamstring, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
