Yellowstone prequel 1923 is back on screens and it stars Julia Schlaepfer as Alex, who is desperate to be reunited with her husband, Spencer Dutton (played by Brandon Sklenar).
Alex divulged to her best friend that she was pregnant with Spencer’s child and needed to be with him so they could be a proper family.
She boarded a ship to Montana but has faced many setbacks along the way. As a vulnerable woman travelling alone, there are numerous potential risks.
Actress Julia spoke exclusively to The Mirror US about how she never expected to be a part of the show for such a long time.
Commenting on the reaction from fans, she said: “The fans have been lovely, I didn’t know what to expect when I auditioned for this role.
“When I got the role I didn’t know how many episodes I was going to be in. I only had two episodes sent to me so I didn’t know if she was going to stay with Spencer or whether she was going to be a blip on the radar.
“So to get this story was so special. Every episode me and Brandon would be like ‘This is so epic, this is so exciting’ and then to see people really take to our love story was incredible.
“We were in the middle of nowhere in Africa filming what felt like this very private little Indie movie almost, because we were out there on our own being like ‘We don’t know what’s going to happen’.”
She said when she returned to the States, she realised the influence the series had already had, adding: “It was really special to see that people really took to our story.”
As she spent so much time on season two alone, Julia opened up on who she would have loved to have worked with more.
“Of course Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford,” she said. “All the time I can get with those two is precious.
“They are just the best people in the world, they are so kind and so funny, they just led our cast with such grace and humility.
“I just have the best time spending time with them in general and so to get to learn from them as an actor on set, any of that time I could ever get with those legends …it’s been a dream come true to be around them.
“To get more time would be even better.”
