Last night, I stumbled upon a kitten while taking out the trash. The kitten lay near the garbage area, turning its back towards me. It was so tiny, almost swallowed by the darkness, making it difficult to spot. Only when it let out a faint cry did I take notice and discover it.
“What happened to you? Why are you lying here, cold and alone in the night?” I wondered. The kitten was just a few days old, small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. Its eyes were sealed shut by crust and eye discharge. Its face was dirty, and its body was emaciated and covered in filth.
I searched around, but there was nothing else to be found except for this kitten. Perhaps it was a lonely stray, abandoned and wandering the streets. In the freezing cold of the winter night, the kitten was on the verge of collapse, seemingly waiting for death.
Thankfully, fate led me to find her just in time. I quickly brought her inside to keep her warm. Even with the heater on, the kitten remained cold, trembling uncontrollably.
Using some alcohol and cotton, I gently cleaned her eyes and face. Beneath the layers of dirt, I discovered bright, alert eyes. It had been a while since she had seen any light, causing her to be slightly disoriented and sensitive to the sudden brightness.
I provided her with some soft food and water. The famished kitten devoured it instantly as if afraid it was all just a dream. It seemed like she hadn’t had a decent meal in a long time. I also prepared a cozy and warm bed for her, lined with a soft cushion. Everything unfolded like magic, as the kitten, who was on the brink of death just a few hours ago, was now revived.
She appeared joyful and content, exploring her surroundings with newfound energy. Oh, poor little kitten, from now on, we will be your new family. I promise you will always be loved and protected, never to endure any more pain and suffering.
