Due to her age, she would have had a hard time finding an adopter after arriving at the shelter even though she had only known wandering until then. However, this cat met her soul mate and benefited from the support of the 30 Million Friends Foundation, whose Operation Doyens facilitates the adoption of senior animals.
At 14 years old, a tabby cat called Eden was at the end of her strength. The life of wandering that she knew exhausted her and she found it more and more difficult to meet the enormous challenges posed by the street on a daily basis: feeding herself, sheltering herself from dangers and the elements…
She therefore tried to survive near Velaine-en-Haye , a commune in Meurthe-et-Moselle located 11 km from Nancy , until her rescue. Eden was, in fact, collected and placed at the local animal shelter, that of the SLPA Velaine-en-Haye , reported the 30 Million Friends Foundation on its site.
The cat received care and attention there. She was also spayed. For a younger animal, finding an adoptive family would have been relatively simple. In the case of Eden , on the other hand, the chances seemed reduced because of her age.
This was without counting Operation Deans led by the 30 Million Friends Foundation . Through this initiative, the animal protection association encourages the adoption of elderly animals, in particular through the reimbursement of possible veterinary costs up to 600 euros. The old dog Chokemba and the senior cat Epine are among the many beneficiaries of this program.
A creature “so beautiful despite its thinness”
Eden was finally adopted by a retiree named Geneviève , whose husband had died 2 years earlier. Her late husband “ always wanted a little cat ,” she told 30 Million Friends . We had one thanks to our children but unfortunately it disappeared. It really hurt my heart. »
Recently, she went to the Murthos shelter to adopt a cat with a calm temperament. Upon meeting Eden , whom she found ” so beautiful despite her thinness “, she immediately knew that they were going to get along.
The cat was thus able to discover her new home where she really likes it and got to know Geneviève ‘s dog , who is also called Eden . To avoid confusion, her owner nicknamed her Minette .
For Geneviève , Operation Doyens is an excellent action. “ Old people have just as much right to live as others. And this type of initiative allows it ,” she says on this subject.
