This Courageous Cat Went to Great Lengths to Seek Assistance from Compassionate Neighbors in Her Quest to Find a Secure Place to Give Birth.
As she wandered from house to house in a neighborhood of Elkhart, Indiana (United States), the young cat named Miracle seemed to be asking for something other than food. Pregnant, she began looking for a home to welcome her and, above all, to accompany her during the major event she was going to experience.
Attentive to neighborhood cats, Elkhart residents spotted the cat with white fur. While some gave her food, others provided her with a bed so that she could rest. Despite these efforts, everything went much faster than expected for Miracle .
A cat about to give birth
The feline’s request was not without merit. Miracle was looking for a secure place to give birth peacefully and with support. Despite his commitment and his multiple attempts in the neighborhood, the work started much earlier than expected and everything went too quickly.
The cat began to give birth. 2 kittens were born, but the other little ones were unable to see the light of day. Without help and enduring physical suffering that was certainly overwhelming, the cat waited 36 hours before receiving any help.
Liz: Miracle’s savior
After this painful 36-hour period, Liz , a volunteer from the Catsnip Etc association arrived on site. The newly born kittens and Miracle were immediately taken to a veterinary clinic. Upon arrival, the professional attempted to recover the kittens that had not been born. Despite numerous efforts, only the 2 babies born early in the labor were able to be kept alive.
In critical condition, Miracle had to be hospitalized after it was found that she was suffering from a serious infection of the uterus, due to lack of treatment beforehand.
Liz recalls: “She was exhausted, weak and dehydrated, but the vet was optimistic that she would pull through . ”
Miracle: a cat that lives up to its name
After being taken care of by the association’s teams, Miracle was able to get out of the situation. Despite this rather traumatic birth, Liz said: “She is safe with us. We promise him an easy life from today. She will be cherished forever.”
Miracle didn’t stop taking care of her kittens for a second. Recognized as an exemplary mother and a “wonderful mother”, the cat remained attentive to the slightest actions of her little ones.
According to Catsnip Etc., Miracle “loves her babies so much and took care of them even when she felt unhappy.” She wants a lot of attention from her foster parents and doesn’t hesitate to share her babies to cuddle them .
Comfortable and alert, the kittens grew at a good pace. After weaning, they were able to rejoin their respective adoptive families. Despite this difficult start, a bright future is emerging for the two felines.
