The NFL offseason is about to heat up in a big way with the free agency tampering window about to open up. However, the Chicago Bears did not waste time signing a former Green Bay Packers’ defender.

As has been the case quite often in recent years, the Bears always look to bring in former Packers players. That was the case with Jonathan Ford as well.

Ford was a seventh-round pick by Green Bay back in the 2022 NFL Draft. He never ended up playing in a regular season game for the Packers.

He latched on with Chicago last year, playing briefly for the Bears during the 2024 season. In four total games played, Ford ended up recording nine total tackles.

Ahead of free agency, Chicago opted to tender Ford as an exclusive rights free agent. He will be back with the Bears in 2025 one a $1.03 million contract for one season.

Standing in at 6-foot-5 and just under 340 pounds, Ford is a big body on the defensive line. He has yet to develop into being a starting caliber player, but clearly Chicago thinks he has enough talent to bring him back for another year.

Only time will tell, but the former Green Bay draft pick will be getting another shot with the Bears.
