Before Dolly Parton agreed to collaborate on Sabrina Carpenter’s remix of “Please, Please, Please,” she set one important rule.

In an interview with Knox News on March 18, Parton, 79, praised the “Espresso” singer but emphasized that she doesn’t use profanity or make jokes about religion. “I told her, I said, ‘Now, I don’t cuss. I don’t make fun of Jesus. I don’t talk bad about God, and I don’t say dirty words on camera, but known to if I get mad enough,’” Parton shared.

In response, Carpenter altered the chorus of the song, removing the explicit language. Instead of “motherf—er,” the line became “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”

Parton joined Carpenter on the 2024 hit’s country remix, which was released on February 14 as part of the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet. Carpenter, 25, shared her excitement on Instagram, saying, “Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!! I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me.”

Behind-the-scenes footage from the music video showed the pair bonding and sharing sweet moments. Parton even posted a TikTok video of them together, calling it “A collab with @Sabrina Carpenter is another 💋,” as they laughed and complimented each other while filming.

The vintage-inspired video featured a playful nod to Carpenter’s ex, actor Barry Keoghan, portraying a criminal. Parton joked about their chemistry on set, saying, “We’re in a truck,” with Carpenter adding, “Big hair. It’s all just … the stars are aligning.”

When asked who she’d like to collaborate with next, Parton said, “Whoever calls me that I like.” She added, “I’ll say, ‘Yeah, I’ll do that!’”
