A woman named Natania Reuben, who claims Sean “Diddy” Combs shot her in the face at a New York City nightclub in 1999, has expressed that his recent arrest is “one of the best days ever.” Reuben was at Club New York in December 1999 when a shooting occurred, injuring three people, including herself. The bullet left her with significant brain injuries, and she survived but has lived with its consequences since.
Diddy was acquitted of all charges related to the incident in 2001, but Reuben is hopeful that his current legal troubles, which include charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, could mean he might finally face justice. When her teenage daughter, Nirvana, informed her of Diddy’s arrest, Reuben was initially in disbelief. She recounted her reaction to *The Daily Beast*: “I said, ‘Are you kidding me, really?’ She said, ‘Yes!’ I just screamed out to God, ‘Thank you, merciful father!’”
The 1999 shooting reportedly stemmed from a confrontation involving Diddy, his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, his bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones, and rapper Jamal “Shyne” Barrow. Reuben claims to have witnessed Diddy with the gun during the incident. While charges against Lopez were quickly dropped as she cooperated with authorities and has denied any wrongdoing, Diddy and Jones were acquitted during the trial. Barrow was convicted of assault and gun possession, receiving a ten-year prison sentence.
The case gained renewed attention earlier this year when Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a lawsuit against Diddy, alleging unwanted advances from Diddy’s associates and claiming that Diddy had bragged about bribing witnesses and jurors related to the nightclub shooting.
