The man, who is not being identified at this time, was reportedly playing dice and drinking into the early morning hours before coming back and allegedly shooting two occupants of the apartment complex

A Michigan man who police say gunned down two people over an $80 dice game allegedly used an unusual method to silence his gunshots.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriffs Office on Tuesday responded to emergency calls around 8:30 a.m. regarding shots being fired inside an apartment complex in Pontiac, MI. Deputies found two people, Sidney Ward III, 20, and Tyrone Davis Glenn Jr, 24, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the sheriffs office. Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced Ward dead, and transported Glenn to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities later learned that the suspect in the shooting left the scene in an Uber. According to a press release by police two handguns were recovered from the scene. Allegedly the suspect attempted to muffle the sound of his gunfire by using a potato as a silencer.

Further investigation into the shooting revealed that 32-year-old Detroit man grew angry after losing $80 in a dice game

And it didnt work obviously because we got calls from people about hearing gunshots, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told Detroit Fox affiliate WJBK.

Further investigation into the shooting revealed that 32-year-old Detroit man grew angry after losing $80 in a dice game, according to police. He had been at the apartment complex the previous night into the morning playing dice and drinking and later returned early in the morning and allegedly committed the shooting, local WXYZ reported.

Only a monster would do something like that. To kill two people, even if it was animosity, anger or… yall coulda hashed that out. It was no reason to take two lives, Glenns cousin, Markeela Jacob, told WXYZ

Deputies later located the suspect around 8:30 p.m. walking on the sidewalk to 8 Mile Road carrying two grocery bags and a case of beer.

The suspect was arrested by Oakland County Sheriffs Office Fugitive Apprehension Team and the Gun Violence Task Force. Police say they have now turned the case over to the local prosecutors office who will likely bring murder charges against the man who is not being identified at this time. He remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail.

I am super proud of our substation, all our detectives and our partners for the effort that brought this cold-blooded killer into custody within 12 hours, Bouchard said in a statement. I have been in this a long time, but it is still shocking to see the lack of value some people place on a human life. I look forward to him being brought to the bar of justice and held accountable.
